The Lebensgarten
Lebensgarten Steyerberg was founded in 1985 and is one of Germany's oldest intentional communities. On the grounds of a former workers' settlement, an ecovillage has grown over four decades: neighbourhood life, shared celebrations, a seminar centre, permaculture gardens and a lived culture of mindfulness.
Living here means: neighbours you actually know. Children growing up between the houses. Community spaces, workshops and events at your doorstep, and at the same time a completely normal house of your own, with your own plot and your own front door to close behind you.
Houses in the Lebensgarten rarely come up for sale. Anyone who has tried to find one here knows this.
Steyerberg and surroundings
Steyerberg is a small town in the district of Nienburg/Weser, Lower Saxony: rural, green, with everyday amenities, a school and kindergarten in town. Hannover, Minden and Nienburg are within reach for commuting and rail connections, surrounded by forest, fields and the Weser river landscape.
The town is developing: the GreenTec Park Steyerberg will host an aluminium recycling plant by EGA Leichtmetall, an investment of around 145 million EUR bringing about 200 jobs, with production planned from 2028. For a town this size, that is a tangible tailwind for demand and infrastructure.
For anyone considering buying, that means deciding now happens before this development, not after. Investments of this size typically pull housing demand up with them, often well before the first jobs actually exist.
How the sale works
The house is sold in an open offer process: guide price, fixed deadline, written offers with proof of financing. Fair, transparent, and free of real estate theatrics.
